Small breasts mammogramIf you have read the prior pages you read that even my doctor told me that I have too small breasts to perform a mammography. Embarrassed I was, I laughed. The doctor told me she knew she could joke with me. The only thing she tried to tell me is that she was concerned about my weight. She told me to put on more weight and that will help me to increase my breasts size and even perform an easier mammography. She also mentioned that a good technician could do mammography on the tiniest breasts as well. Sometimes even men need to have one!
Small-breasted women are concerned that their breasts don’t stick out enough and nothing can be flattened. It is also a concern that mammography on small breasted women are less accurate because their breasts cannot be flattened that much. But this is not true. A good tech will be able to do it. Also no matter what your breast size is, there will be always a small portion what they will not be able to film. This is the gap area between the film and your chest wall.
Many women also concerned that the whole procedure hurts. It is definitely not comfortable but you shouldn’t feel pain. If you do, you need to mention it and your technician should work around and reposition your breast.
Mammography is the only good way to detect calcification in breasts that could lead to breast cancer. Don’t let your fear keep you back to go for a check up! Don’t think for a second if you have small breast, you are safe on this issue!
